Fire Polish Lathe

The fire polish lathe is a standard horizontal quartz working lathe specially modified for fire polishing preforms and/or fusing on the holding and support handles to either preforms or quartz tubes. The system consists of the basic lathe with scroll type spindles, hydrogen and oxygen burners mounted on a traversing carriage, pyrometer for measuring preform temperature, gas flow control unit and operator interface. The six headed, fully adjustable, stainless steel burner is located underneath the centerline of the spindles and is fixed to the traversing burner carriage to obtain the lateral movement required in fire polishing. The air inlet to the enclosure is complete with a HEPA filter pack to assure cleanliness within the hood. The system is equipped with flash arrestors and is completely enclosed in a metallic hood with tinted lexan sliding doors for additional safety.
